Sam Rogers (Son), and George Rogers (father) in Confederate Army Uniforms

 

George Rogers, the only child of William and Elizabeth (Gounce) Rogers was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee October 14, 1815. He married Eliza Jane McCrary, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Allen) McCrary in Jackson County, Alabama. She was born in Tennessee April 18, 1816.

They moved to Glen Rose, Texas with their children and their families in covered wagons. In 1879 the families moved to Young County and settled. in Center Ridge ,Community. George Rogers died March 20, 1892 and Eliza Rogers died May 14, 1897. Both are buried in the Center Ridge Cemetery, East of Graham.

 

 

Three sons and five daughter's were born to George and Eliza Rogers:

William Leroy Rogers marr'ied Sarah Ann Matthews after her death" he married Mary (Crozier) Donaldson, Mother of Charles Donaldson who married Anna Bell Willis. William Leroy Rogers was born in Jackson County, Alabama May 14, 1838 and died January 30, 1926 buried in Fall Creek Cemetery near Cleburne. Sam Rogers was born in Jackson County, Alabama. He married Betty Wagoner. They both died at Graham, Texas and are buried in the Median Cemetery. Sam Rogers and his Father George Rogers served in the Confederate Army. George Rogers was born in Jackson County, Alabama. He was teaching school East of Graham, one night he saw a light in the school house and went to investigate and was shot and killed. He is buried in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Elizabeth (Betty) Rogers was born in Jackson County, Alabama November 14, 1836. She married George Willis in Alabama, he lost his life from exposure in the Confederate Army. She married Archie B. Median December 11, 1879. She died on her birthday November 14, 1932. She and Archie Median are buried in the Median Ranch Cemetery
